MicroSurgical Endodontics

This two-day course presents the most recent updates on apical microsurgical instruments and technique. A live demonstration case provides the participants microscopic and endoscopic views on 5 monitors. A step by step protocol will be provided to allow more confidence and predictability during periradicular surgery. Microscope vs Endoscope will be shown.

Day One Objectives:
Introduction and review of previous techniques

  • List the biological reasons for failure

  • Describe current changes in endodontics

Identify steps taken in Apical MicroSurgery

  • Preparation of patient and diagnosis

  • Hemostasis staging and proper anesthesia

  • Incision and atraumatic flap elevation

  • Access and bevel concepts

  • Apiection (RER) and crypt management

  • Ultrasonic retropreparation (REP)

  • Select REF materials: bonding, MTA

Day Two Objectives:
Use surgical ergonomics for less stressful results
Review of Day One, Discuss team involvement
Suture removal from demo & critique healing

  • State different suturing techniques

  • Discuss current concepts of healing

  • List advantages of 24 hour suture removal

Review post-op care and pharmacology

After completing this course, the participant should feel more confident performing apical microsurgery and achieving predictable results.
